Kit Information

Grade: 4
Type: Life Science
In this unit, students focus on Dwarf African frogs, fiddler crabs, and land snails. The students learn to compare and contrast the different habitats, behaviors, needs, and adaptations of all three types of animals. Students also compare and contrast the habitats, behaviors, needs and adaptations of humans, learning that humans are able to alter their habitat, in order to satisfy needs, more so than other animals. Additionally, students participate in a variety of exciting hands-on activities. Habitats are set up and maintained, animals are observed and fed daily, and harmless experiments are done with the animals such as the light test. The light test allows students to predict, investigate, and record data on the behavior of each animal when light from a flashlight is directed towards the animals while they're in their habitats.
